Bills release safety Mike Edwards

Edwards signed a one-year deal with this Bills back in March

Orchard Park, N.Y. (WGR Sports Radio 550) - After reportedly wanting out of Buffalo, the Bills have officially granted the release of veteran safety Mike Edwards.

Heading into Tuesday's trade deadline across the NFL, multiple reports had indicated the Bills were attempting to seek a trade to accommodate the 28-year-old. After failing to find a trade partner, the Bills formally released Edwards before the 4 p.m. EST deadline.

Edwards was a free agent signing of the Bills back in March, inking a one-year deal.

To start the season, Edwards had difficulties getting on the field due to injuries, and has been a healthy scratch for much of the season. He's played in just three games, taking the field for seven snaps on defense and 13 on special teams.

Before signing with the Bills, Edwards won two Super Bowls, first with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2020 and then with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2023.
