Orchard Park, N.Y. (WGR 550) - The Buffalo Bills have signed wide receiver Cole Beasley to the 53-man active roster, the team announced on Thursday.

Beasley had been on the team's practice squad since Dec. 13 and played in three regular season games, which was in conjunction with the maximum number of times he was allowed to be elevated from the practice squad during the season.

Even though there are no restrictions on the number of times a player can be elevated from the practice squad to the game day during the postseason, each team is still only allowed to elevate two players each week.

By signing Beasley to a contract, the team does not have to elevate him for their Wild Card Round matchup with the Miami Dolphins on Sunday at Highmark Stadium. The Bills will be able to use those two elevations on other players.

To make room for Beasley on the active roster, the team released offensive lineman Justin Murray.

There may also be an injury concern at wide receiver, which could also be a factor in Beasley's singing.

Wideout Isaiah McKenzie unexpectedly showed up on the injury report with a hamstring injury on Wednesday. Then he was not on the field during the media-open portion of practice on Thursday.

Also during Thursday's practice session open to the media, defensive tackle Tim Settle was being looked at by trainers and eventually walked off the field with them. However, Settle did not appear on the official Thursday injury report, which means he was still a full participant throughout the non-media team portion.
