Pittsford, N.Y. (WGR Sports Radio 550) - Before the Buffalo Bills broke training camp at St. John Fisher University in Pittsford on Friday, the team managed to come to terms on a new deal for a key cog of the offensive line.
According to multiple reports Friday morning, the Bills have signed guard O'Cyrus Torrence to a four-year contract extension worth $78.4 million that includes $46 million guaranteed.
Torrence was a second-round pick (59th overall) of the Bills in the 2023 NFL Draft out of the University of Florida. Through the first three years of his career in Buffalo, Torreence has played in all 51 regular season games, while also starting all seven playoff games in that span. The 26-year-old has also played the majority of his career snaps, only missing one start in the 2024 season.
The new deal now makes Torrence the seventh-highest paid guard in the NFL. It also locks him in with the Bills through the 2030 season.
Matthew Bergeron, who was selected 38th overall in that same draft by the Atlanta Falcons out of Syracuse University, had recently signed a new four-year, $96 million extension.
Just before the final practice of training camp, Bills head coach Joe Brady held high praise for Torrence during his time in Buffalo.
"Since Day 1, there was no hesitation after we drafted him, to put him out there. He's one of the top guards in football," Brady said of Torrence on Friday. "Last year, he battled through so much, and was out there with every injury and didn't blink. He's as tough as it gets, and he's the epitome of what we want here."
Bills general manager Brandon Beane also holds Torrence in high regard not just for his individual play, but what he means to the overall complexion of the offensive line.
"The No. 1 thing we want to do is we want to be strong up front, and we want to protect No. 17 (Josh Allen). That's where it all starts," Beane said. "And other than left guard, we've got everyone else for multiple years. We lost Dave Edwards, so I wanted to do my best not to lose another guard."
Bills quarterback Josh Allen also holds much praise for Torrence, feeling he deserves every penny earned.
"He's been so steady for us the last few years, he's gonna continue to get better. 'Cybo's' just that guy on the team where you ask anybody, I don't think anybody can say a bad thing about O'Cyrus Torrence. He's the ultimate teammate, he works extremely hard," Allen said following practice.
The Bills now have four of their starting five offensive linemen locked up through, at least, the next two seasons.
