Orchard Park, N.Y. (WGR 550) - The Buffalo Bills have locked up a key piece of their offensive line now through the 2027 season.
The team announced on Monday the signing of Pro-Bowl left tackle Dion Dawkins to a three-year contract extension. ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter was first to report the extension, adding it's worth $60.5 million, making Dawkins one of the highest paid tackles in the game.
The 29-year-old had one of his best seasons with the Bills last year, playing in all 17 regular season games and two playoff games. He accounted for 96% of the offensive snaps in 2023, as he was part of a starting five that remained healthy for the entire year.
According to ESPN Analytics/NFL Next Gen Stats, Dawkins finished last season with the fourth-highest pass-block win rate among tackles, sustaining his blocks for 2.5 seconds 93.3% of the time.
Since being drafted in the second round (63rd overall) in the 2017 NFL Draft out of Temple University, Dawkins has played in 112 out of a possible 115 games for the Bills, starting in all but five games protecting Josh Allen's blind side.
He has also earned a Pro Bowl nod in each of his last three seasons played for Buffalo.
Dawkins was set to enter the final year of his current contract that he signed with the Bills back in August of 2020.
