Bills sign Olympic gold medalist wrestler Gable Steveson to contract

The team has also released punter Matt Haack

Orchard Park, N.Y. (WGR Sports Radio 550) - The Buffalo Bills announced on Friday the signing of Olympic gold medalist and two-time wrestling national champion Gable Steveson to a contract.

Steveson, 24, wrestled at the University of Minnesota, where he won a pair of National Championships in 2021 and 2022. He also won a gold medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics in the 125kg freestyle.

While he has never played football, the Bills are listing Steveson as a defensive tackle with official measurements of 5-foot-11 and 266 pounds.

To make room for Steveson on the roster, the Bills have released punter Matt Haack. His brief stint in Buffalo was his second one with the team after spending the 2021 season in Orchard Park.
