Buffalo, N.Y. (WGR 550) - The Buffalo Bills have announced that quarterback Matt Barkley will be coming back to Buffalo on a one-year deal for the 2022 season.

Barkley was previously with the team from 2018 to 2020. The 31-year-old saw action in eight games during his three seasons in Buffalo, serving predominantly as a backup to Josh Allen under center.
The former USC product was originally drafted by the Eagles in 2013, and has seen playing time with Philadelphia, the Chicago Bears, and the Bills.
Since leaving Buffalo as a free agent in 2021, Barkley signed with the Tennessee Titans and eventually landed on the practice squad. He also spent time with the Carolina Panthers and Atlanta Falcons in 2021 before his contract expired at the end of the season.

Barkley joins Case Keenum as quarterbacks the Bills have brought in this offseason following the departure of Jake Fromm, Davis Webb and Mitchell Trubisky.
