The Buffalo Bills are adding some depth and speed to their running backs room with the signing of free agent Matt Breida to a one-year deal, the team announced on Thursday.

Breida was with the Miami Dolphins in 2020 after spending the first three years of his career with the San Francisco 49ers, where he averaged 821 yards from scrimmage over that period.

Breida entered the league as an undrafted free agent from Georgia Southern in 2017. His best NFL season came in 2018 when he ran for 814 yards and caught 27 passes for 261 yards, gaining 1,075 total yards from scrimmage.

The 26-year-old is one of the fastest running backs in the NFL. At his college pro day in 2017, Breida ran a 4.38-second 40-yard dash and topped out at 22.3 miles-per-hour on a touchdown run in 2019, according to NFL's Next Gen Stats.

Breida joins Devin Singletary, Zack Moss, Taiwan Jones, Antonio Williams, and Christian Wade as running backs on the current Bills roster.
