Bills waive Baylon Spector, get Dorian Williams back at practice

Spector suffered a calf injury in Sunday's practice in Rochester

Pittsford, N.Y. (WGR Sports Radio 550) - After being placed on Injured Reserve three times over the last two seasons, then suffering a calf injury during Sunday's training camp practice at St. John Fisher University, the Buffalo Bills have waived/injured linebacker Baylon Spector.

After making the team as a seventh-round draft pick out of Clemson University in 2022, Spector has been active for only 26 of a possible 50 regular season games.

Because Spector has not played four full NFL seasons, he can be claimed by any club. If that doesn't happen, he will revert back to the Bills, who will then have the option to place him on Injured Reserve for the season, or release him with an injury settlement.

Spector's release opens the door for Lancaster High School and University at Buffalo product Joe Andreessen to grab the backup middle linebacker spot behind Terrel Bernard.

Dorian Williams, who had been out with a calf injury, returned to practice on Wednesday to play his usual backup weakside linebacker position, next to Andreessen with the second unit.

With the extra roster spot created by Spector's release, the Bills signed linebacker Jimmy Ciarlo.

In addition to Williams, cornerbacks Dane Jackson and Taron Johnson, as well as defensive tackle Deone Walker all returned to practice on Wednesday.
