Orchard Park, N.Y. (WBEN/WGR 550) - The Buffalo Bills provided an update on Wednesday regarding progress of construction efforts made on site of the new Highmark Stadium along Abbott Road in Orchard Park.

The team announced that all controlled detonations that were taking place for the removal of solid rock formations have been carried out safely and successfully. Moving forward, mass excavation will continue to the field leve,l while responsibly managing the removal and transportation of material to a designated storage location for sustainable reuse once the new stadium construction is complete.

It is anticipated for the majority of this effort to be completed in the next few weeks.

As for the next phase of construction, it will involve the laying of a solid foundation for the future stadium structure. This work will entail the ongoing drilling and completion of soldier piles to provide critical support and stability to the excavation area, as well as the pouring of concrete foundations to support the structural steel.

As construction progresses, there may be occasional work during select weekend hours to ensure the successful delivery of the new state-of-the-art stadium in Orchard Park. Throughout this process, the stadium construction team remains committed to working diligently on-site and collaborating closely with stakeholders to minimize disruptions and address any temporary inconveniences that may arise.

Ensuring a safe construction zone for workers and the well-being of the surrounding community is a top priority of the organization.

The blasting phase of the project began back in late June.
