Orchard Park, N.Y. (WGR 550) - Saturday night's Miami Dolphins-Buffalo Bills game in Orchard Park on Saturday was briefly delayed during the first half due to fans throwing snowballs on the field at Highmark Stadium.
The delay came midway through the second quarter after the Bills scored their second touchdown to take a 14-6 lead.
During the stoppage, a PA announcer informed fans that the Bills could be assessed a 15-yard penalty if the pelting continued. NFL Network sideline reporter Pete Schrager reported that Dolphins personnel were being targeted on the sideline, and the snowballs were also packed with ice.
Fans were throwing the snowballs at both teams throughout the first half, but more so at the Dolphins. It was especially noticeable when the Dolphins offense reached the red zone early in the second quarter. Snowballs were landing in the end zone and in the area of players during and after plays.
One appeared to strike a camera operator perched on a stand.

Western New York was pounded by several inches of snow Friday night, though it was not snowing during the first half, and the field had largely been cleared. However, the stands were still covered in snow and had been packed down by the fans flooding into the stadium.
