Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - Erie County is rescinding its controversial COVID-19 vaccine requirement to attend Buffalo Bills games or other events at Highmark Stadium.
Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz Sunday tweeted that as a result of the extremely low number of new COVID-19 cases, the county would not require vaccination proof for attendance at stadium events.
The vaccine requirement stance created a rift between the county executive and governor's office when Governor Andrew Cuomo questions Poloncarz and the county's authority to require a vaccine.
The county is reserving the right to revisit the issue if the situation changes.
