Gabe Davis' season over after tearing ACL

Bills head coach Sean McDermott gave an update on injured players on Monday

Orchard Park, N.Y. (WGR Sports Radio 550) - Buffalo Bills wide receiver Gabe Davis suffered a torn ACL in Sunday's 27-24 AFC Wild Card win over the Jacksonville Jaguars, head coach Sean McDermott told reporters on Monday.

Davis, who spent the first four years of his NFL career in Buffalo, then signed with the Jaguars as a free agent in 2024, was released by the club last off-season and rejoined the Bills.

With wide receiver Joshua Palmer placed on Injured Reserve last week, the Bills have opened the 21-day practice window for Curtis Samuel, who has missed the last eight games after being placed on I.R. with neck and elbow injuries.

The team has also opened the 21-day practice window for defensive tackle Ed Oliver, who has been out since October after tearing his biceps and then having a meniscus clean-up.

Both players are eligible to play in the team's AFC Divisional Playoff game Saturday at the Denver Broncos, but would have to be activated to the 53-man roster before then.

McDermott also gave an update on several other injured players:

- Safety Jordan Poyer is week-to-week with a hamstring injury.
- Tight end Dalton Kincaid was in a walking boot as a precaution after the game Sunday, but should be fine for practice this week.
- Wide receiver Tyrell Shavers continues to have his knee evaluated.
- Running back Ty Johnson (ankle), cornerback Maxwell Hairston (ankle), and linebacker Terrel Bernard (calf) are all improving.

The Bills will hold a walk-though session on Tuesday. The first official injury report of the week will be released after practice.
