Orchard Park, N.Y. (WGR Sports Radio 550) - Joe Brady has agreed to a five-year deal to become the next head coach of the Buffalo Bills, the team announced on Tuesday.

Brady has been the team's offensive coordinator since November 2023, when he took over on an interim basis for Ken Dorsey after he was relieved of his duties.

Brady becomes the 21st head coach in franchise history, counting interim coaches and Lou Saban's two stints as head coach.

Brady replaces Sean McDermott, who was fired last week Monday after Buffalo's loss in the AFC Divisional Round to the Denver Broncos.

Under Brady as the full-time offensive coordinator, the Bills offense finished second in points scored and 10th in total yards in 2024, then fourth in both categories this past season.

Prior to being named offensive coordinator in 2023, Brady served as the Bills' quarterbacks coach in 2022 and 2023.

Before coming to Buffalo, the Pembroke Pines, Fla. native was the offensive coordinator for the Carolina Panthers in 2020 and 2021. Prior to that, he served as the LSU passing game coordinator and wide receivers coach in 2019, where he won a national championship with quarterback Joe Burrow and wideouts Ja'Marr Chase and Justin Jefferson.

The 36-year-old began his coaching career as a linebackers coach at William & Mary from 2013-2014, was a graduate assistant at Penn State from 2015-2016, then moved on to the NFL, where he was an offensive assistant with the New Orleans Saints in 2017 and 2018.
