Phoenix, Arizona (WGR550) - D.J. Moore has recoded over 1,100 yards receiving four times in his eight year NFL career. But the only time he's done it in back-to-back seasons was in 2020 and 2021 while with the Carolina Panthers.
Joe Brady was his offensive coordinator in both those seasons.
Brady and Moore have been reunited after the wideout was traded from the Chicago Bears to the Buffalo Bills this offseason. Brady, the new head coach of the Bills, is excited about working with Moore again, and what he can add to the Bills offense.
"I am fortunate that I know D.J." Brady said to reporters Tuesday here at the annual league meetings in Phoenix. "But D.J. has a unique skill set that he can he can play inside, he can play outside. He can run block. He makes dynamic plays down the field. You can get the ball in his hands and he's a little bit like a running back. He can do so many different things. And, you know, knock on wood, he plays. He practices. He’s out there every day. He's playing every game, and he is playing and he's not coming off the field. And that's unique at the wide receiver position. It's been a while since I've been coaching him, and I've been wanting to coach him for the last few years. And so having that opportunity to kind of do it again excites me."
Bears head coach Ben Johnson said it was bitter-sweet trading Moore because of how important he was to the Bears offense, but knowing Moore is excited to work with Brady again.
“Great, great teammate," Johnson said when asked about Moore. "He was an integral part of our receiver room. I loved how he took coaching. I know he's got a history with Joe, and he's really looking forward to being with Josh Allen, as well. He's a guy that personally I'm going to miss because I viewed him as one of the guys that helped champion the message that we had year one here in Chicago. So it was an emotional day for me when we did trade him. And yet I feel really good about the situation that he's going to.”
