Orchard Park, N.Y. (WGR) - The Buffalo Bills will wrap up their preseason on Thursday night at Highmark Stadium against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
When they do, head coach Joe Brady says there will be some starters playing in the game, but was noncommittal on exactly who or how much time they will see.
"There will be some guys who are starters that are going to be playing in the game," said Brady ahead of Tuesday's practice. "That's going to be kind of a thing we're going to talk about after today's practice."
Brady did confirm that quarterback Josh Allen will not play in the contest, and even said he might call some plays while standing next to him on the sidelines.
There are several position battles still up for grabs. Brady and his staff want to get another evaluation of those players who are battling for depth roster spots, and in a couple cases maybe even a starting role.
At linebacker, both veteran Dorian Williams and rookie Kaleb Elarms-Orr are battling to be the starter next to Terrel Bernard, who has not practiced this week.
Brady has not said specifically why Bernard has been out, but made it very clear how much he means to the club.
"Terrel Bernard is not a guy necessarily fighting for a roster spot. He's a leader of our defense and a starter," Brady said.
Bernard was one of a longer list of players who were not present or did not participate on Tuesday.
