Orchard Park, N.Y. (WGR Sports Radio 550) - For the fifth time in his NFL career and fourth year in-a-row, Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen has earned recognition as a finalist for the league's Most Valuable Player honor.
Allen is one of five finalists for AP NFL MVP this season, joined by Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence, New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye, San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey and Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford.
The reigning NFL MVP helped lead the Bills in 2025 to a 12-5 record, which wasn't good enough to win a sixth-straight AFC East title, but still enough to secure a playoff berth as a Wild Card team in the conference.
While 2025 was not Allen's best season statistically, the 29-year-old still completed a career-best 69.3% of his pass attempts for 3,668 yards, 25 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. He also factored in with 579 rushing yards on 112 carries and 14 more touchdowns.
However, Allen did set a number of marks this season that rank him among some of the best quarterbacks in NFL history, including:
- Surpassing Cam Newton for the most rushing touchdowns by a quarterback in league history.
- Becoming the youngest and fastest player to eclipse 300 regular season touchdowns.
- Surpassing Peyton Manning for the most total touchdowns by a player 30 years or younger.
- Becoming the first NFL player with multiple games registering three passing touchdowns and three rushing touchdowns.
Before finally winning NFL MVP honors last season, Allen was a finalist for the award in 2020, 2022 and 2023, where he finished second, third and fifth, respectively, in voting.
Allen is the only Bills player named as a finalist for any of the major honors in the NFL for the 2025 season. Meanwhile, Dion Dawkins will be the Bills' representative for the 2025 Walter Payton Man of the Year award.
The winner of NFL MVP will be revealed at NFL Honors on Feb. 5 at the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco, just a few days before Super Bowl LX.
