For the first time in the 2021 season and the seventh time of his NFL career, Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen has earned the honor of AFC Offensive Player of the Week in the NFL.
This honor comes following his Week 3 performance against the Washington Football Team in a 43-21 win at Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park. Allen finished the contest completing 74.4% of this passes (32-of-43) for 358 yards and four touchdowns, while also running in a late touchdown to cap off Buffalo's victory.
With Allen's seventh career AFC Offensive Player of the Week honor, he now only trails Bills Hall of Fame quarterback Jim Kelly for the most in team history with 10. The 25-year-old signal caller earned four AFC Offensive Player of the Week honors last season - a Bills franchise record - and was one of four players to win the AFC honor multiple times in 2020.
As part of this past Sunday's win over Washington, Allen became the fourth quarterback in NFL history to record multiple games with at least 300 passing yards, four touchdown passes and one rushing touchdown, joining Drew Brees, Aaron Rodgers and Peyton Manning.
Allen also became the fifth-fastest player in NFL history on Sunday to reach the 100 total touchdowns mark with his rushing touchdown. He sits only behind Patrick Mahomes (39 games), Hall of Famer Dan Marino (43 games), Deshaun Watson (44 games) and Hall of Famer Kurt Warner (46) to achieve that mark in 47 games.
It is the first time this season any Bills player has been honored with AFC Player of the Week honors.
