LeSean McCoy is returning to Philadelphia for one last time as an Eagle.
No, he won’t be suiting up in Sunday’s game against his former team, the Kansas City Chiefs, but he will be signing a one-day contract with the Eagles so he can announce his retirement on Friday.
McCoy was drafted by Philadelphia in the second round of the 2009 NFL Draft out of the University of Pittsburgh. While with the Eagles, McCoy earned three Pro Bowl honors and was twice named an All-Pro running back.
He led the NFL with 1,607 rushing yards in 2013, as well as yards from scrimmage with 2,146 yards that season.
In 2015, McCoy was traded to the Buffalo Bills in exchange for linebacker Kiko Alonso, where he spent the next four seasons and was named to three more Pro Bowls.
While with the Bills, "Shady" finished sixth in franchise history with 3,814 rushing yards, while rushing for 25 touchdowns. He also added 1,334 receiving yards in his tenure in Buffalo, amassing five additional touchdowns. He was also a key piece to the Buffalo offense in the 2017 season that helped the Bills snap their playoff drought.

After his release by the Bills just before the 2019 season, McCoy reunited with head coach Andy Reid in Kansas City where he appeared in 13 games with the Chiefs and won a Super Bowl — although he was inactive for the actual game.
Last season, McCoy was a member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and won another Super Bowl, although he did not play a snap in the game and only had 10 rushing attempts and 15 receptions for the team during the season.
Overall, McCoy appeared in 170 NFL games, rushing for 11,102 yards and 73 touchdowns. He finishes his NFL career as the 22nd all-time leading rusher, while finishing tied 28th for the all-time mark in rushing touchdowns.
