Buffalo N.Y. (WGR Sports Radio 550) - It was a crazy finish on Sunday in Orchard Park, as the Buffalo Bills managed to complete the season series sweep of the Miami Dolphins thanks to some last-second heroics from kicker Tyler Bass.
With just 10 seconds remaining on the clock and the game tied at 27-27, the Bills turned to the veteran to convert a franchise-record 61-yard field goal. Despite facing some struggles throughout the season kicking the football, including a missed extra point earlier in the game, Bass was able to boot the ball right between the uprights, while also getting plenty of distance to help secure a fourth-straight win for the Bills.
After another slow start for the Bills, they managed to ramp up the offensive attack in the second half, scoring on all four of their drives in the final 30 minutes.
Even though Josh Allen threw his second interception in as many games this season, he was able to bounce back and finish strong, going 25-of-39 for 235 yards, three touchdowns and his pick.
Now the Bills head into Week 10 of the season, and it's back on the road to take on the Indianapolis Colts at Lucas Oil Stadium. This is the first time since 2021 that the Bills will play the Colts, and the first time since 2018 they will play in Indianapolis.
Following a 4-5 start to their season, the Colts have fully turned to veteran quarterback Joe Flacco after second-year signal caller Anthony Richardson has had one of the lowest completion in the NFL at 44.4% on the year.
This past Sunday night against the Minnesota Vikings, despite entering halftime with a 7-0 lead, the Colts were unable to hold off the passing attack of Sam Darnold in a 21-13 loss. It was Indianapolis' second-straight loss, and first loss with Flacco announced as the full-time starter for the immediate future.
As the Bills keep winning, their road to a fifth-straight divisional title continues to come into picture. At this time, the Bills hold the tiebreaker over the Dolphins and Jets, while also holding a four-game lead on New York.
Over the course of "Howard Picks the Bills" this season, Howard Simon has had a similar path of success as the Bills. He's hoping to have that trend continues, as Howard has the Bills getting another road win in Indianapolis to put the Bills at 8-2 ahead of the Week 11 showdown with the reigning Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs.
From there, Howard has the Bills beating both the Chiefs and the defending NFC champion San Francisco 49ers coming out of the bye. That would put Buffalo's current winning streak at seven games entering the month of December.
Despite Howard picking a pair of NFC losses to the Los Angeles Rams and Detroit Lions, he foresees the Bills closing out the 2024 campaign with a 13-4 record, sweeping the final three games against the New England Patriots (twice) and Jets, and another divisional title clinched.
