Buffalo, N.Y. (WGR 550) - The Buffalo Bills are back to work following their bye week, and remain in a very precarious position in the standings.
With five games remaining on the schedule, the Bills are currently 6-6 and on the outside looking in at a playoff spot. However, the dreams of a fifth-straight postseason berth is still not completely out of the question.
If the Bills happen to win-out the rest of the season, their chances of making the playoffs are very good. However, most of the playoff scenarios for the Bills will still likely need some help from other teams for Buffalo to get into the postseason.
In addition, the Bills continue on with their gauntlet stretch of the regular season schedule, beginning this coming Sunday when they face a familiar foe in the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium.
The Chiefs enter Sunday's highly-anticipated Week 14 matchup with the Bills coming off of a bit of a surprising loss to the Green Bay Packers on "Sunday Night Football" at Lambeau Field.
It hasn't been since the 2021 season when the Chiefs last lost back-to-back games, but they have also had their own struggles offensely this year. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes has played up to his usual standard, but lacks the offensive firepower he's had in the past.
Howard Simon has been very back-and-forth on the Bills for the last month-plus of the season.
Given the opportunity for the Bills to rest up, plus seeing a lack of improvement from other teams around the league, Howard seems more-and-more optimistic about the Bills going on a run and making the playoffs.
When it comes to Sunday's matchup with Kansas City, he's confident the Bills can pull off a win in enemy territory once again to get back on a winning track.
After a Week 15 loss to the Dallas Cowboys, Howard has the Bills finishing with a 10-7 record, including a three-game winning streak to close the season against the Los Angeles Chargers, New England Patriots and Miami Dolphins.
With that outcome, it gives the Bills a 61% chance to make the playoffs, according to the New York Times Playoff Machine.
