OPINION: Howard Picks the Bills: Week 3

Howard Simon continues to ride high on the Bills after a dominate win over the Dolphins

Buffalo, N.Y. (WGR Sports Radio 550) - After an impressive win on "Thursday Night Football" over the Miami Dolphins in South Florida, the Buffalo Bills now sit atop of the AFC East by themselves at 2-0.

Thursday's win at Hard Rock Stadium was as complete of a team effort as it gets. Both sides of the football were able to dominate, leading to an impressive 31-10 win over the Dolphins, with Buffalo never really feeling any sort of pressure from Miami.

The Bills defense shut down a high-powered Dolphins offense, while forcing three interceptions of Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, one of which returned for a touchdown in the third quarter.

It was the James Cook Show offensively, as he led the Bills with three total touchdowns, becoming the first Bills running back to score two rushing touchdowns and one receiving touchdown since Hall-of-Famer Thurman Thomas in 1992.

While quarterback Josh Allen has been known for his domination of the Dolphins in his career, he didn't have to be the X factor for Buffalo in this one, as he went 13-of-19 through the air for 139 yards and his touchdown pass to Cook.

After a short week against the Dolphins, the Bills were able to get a bit of longer break before getting ready to host the Jacksonville Jaguars this coming Monday night for a prime-time showdown at Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park. Monday Night Football taking on the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The Jaguars have seemed to be the Bills' Achilles heel over the last few meetings. This includes a pair of losses for Buffalo in recent years, a 9-6 loss in Jacksonville in 2021, followed by a miserable loss to the Jaguars in London this past year.

Ahead of Monday night's contest, Bills head coach Sean McDermott has already ruled out a pair of key defensive players for Buffalo. Nickel cornerback Taron Johnson will miss his second-straight game with his forearm injury, while linebacker Terrel Bernard is out with a pectoral injury suffered against the Dolphins.

As for Jacksonville, a key injury they have on the offensive side of the football is tight end Evan Ingram, who could possibly miss his second-straight contest Monday due to a hamstring injury.

Going into Week 3 of the 2024 season, Howard Simon is feeling really good about the Bills, especially after they were able to shut down a high-powered Dolphins offense and holding them to just 10 points.

While injuries are a bit of a concern heading into the Jaguars prime-time game, Howard exuded that confidence in the Bills in this week's edition of "Howard Picks the Bills"!

Not only does Howard have the Bills beating Jacksonville, but he also has Buffalo getting off to a 4-0 start after beating the Baltimore Ravens in Week 4.

Howard also has Buffalo finishing with an even better record than he had picked last week, seeing the Bills going 13-4 on the season with losses to only the Houston Texans in Week 5, New York Jets in Week 6, Seattle Seahawks in Week 8 and San Francisco 49ers in Week 13 out of the bye week.
