Buffalo, N.Y. (WGR Sports Radio 550) - Despite another slow start on both sides of the football, the Buffalo Bills were able to put up another impressive performance with a 34-10 win over the Tennessee Titans at Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park.
It was a tale of two halves, to say the least, on Sunday, as the Buffalo offense got off to a shaky start with three-straight three-and-out drives. Defensively, the Bills didn't have much of an answer to slow down a Tennessee offense led by Mason Rudolph under center, and got into a quick 10-0 hole in the second quarter.
However, the Bills eventually kicked things into high gear, getting on the board with a James Cook touchdown in the second quarter, and then completely taking over on both sides of the ball in the second half.
The Bills took the lead on their first drive of the third quarter when quarterback Josh Allen connected with his newest target Amari Cooper, who had been acquired earlier in the week from the Cleveland Browns. His 12-yard touchdown reception was part of a four-catch afternoon for the veteran for 66 yards and his score.
Meanwhile, Bills rookie wide receiver Keon Coleman recorded his first-career 100-yard receiving game, averaging 31.3 yards per-catch on four receptions in the win.
Allen was a catalyst for the Bills on their run of 34 unanswered points to earn their fifth win of the season. He recorded his first 300-yard passing game of the season, while also avoiding an interception throw to open the season.
With the Bills improving to 5-2, they now hold a significant advantage in the AFC East standings through seven games. Buffalo was the only team in the division earning a win Sunday, with the Miami Dolphins losing to the Indianapolis Colts, the New York Jets falling to the Pittsburgh Steelers, and the New England Patriots coming out on the losing end against the Jacksonville Jaguars in London.
The Bills will look to continue their winning ways come Sunday afternoon when they travel to the Pacific Northwest for a rare matchup with the Seattle Seahawks at Lumen Field.
While the Seahawks were able to earn themselves a dominant 34-14 win over the Atlanta Falcons this past Sunday, snapping a three-game losing skid, they may have a significant injury to their top receiving target in D.K. Metcalf. According to head coach Mike Macdonald, Metcalf is considered week-to-week with a knee injury, but hasn't been ruled out of playing Sunday.
As for the Bills, they await to learn the injury status of linebacker Terrel Bernard (ankle), wide receiver Curtis Samuel (shoulder) and linebacker Dorian Williams (knee) ahead of Sunday's contest with the Seahawks.
Sunday will be the first time the Bills and Seahawks will square off since the 2020 season in Orchard Park, and game in which Buffalo came away with a 44-34 win.
The last time the Bills and Seahawks played in Seattle was back in 2016 on "Monday Night Football", when Buffalo suffered a 31-25 loss with Rex Ryan at the helm as head coach.
Despite the Bills readying to travel across the country for a tough NFC West matchup with the Seahawks, Howard Simon is feeling good about the team after its win this past week.
While Howard has mostly picked the Bills to lose in Seattle this season, he has flipped his pick heading into Week 8 and is taking Buffalo to earn a sixth win on the season.
In the following weeks to come, Howard only foresees the Bills losing two more times to the currently unbeaten Kansas City Chiefs and red-hot Detroit Lions. Other than that, it's a 13-4 final record for the Bills, putting them in the driver's seat in the AFC East, while also setting them up in a position to potentially be the third or fourth seed in the AFC Playoff picture.
