Buffalo, N.Y. (WGR Sports Radio 550) - After a number of slow starts over the course of the 2024 season, that was certainly not the case for the Buffalo Bills this past Sunday afternoon in the Pacific Northwest.
It was a complete start-to-finish effort from the Bills in all phases of play in Week 8, as Buffalo improved to 6-2 on the season with a dominating 31-10 win over the Seattle Seahawks at Lumen Field.
After pass rusher Greg Rousseau set the tone early for the Bills with two batted down passes on the opening drive, the offense immediately took the ball 90 yards down the field to find the end zone, thanks to an amazing one-handed catch from Keon Coleman.
From there, the Seattle offense was only able to must three points on the scoreboard through more than three quarters of play due to Buffalo locking things down and not allowing the Seahawks to gain any sort of momentum.
While the Bills offense was not perfect on the afternoon, the unit certainly made the most of its opportunities.
Although quarterback Josh Allen threw his first interception of the season in the second quarter, it didn't phase the veteran, who finished the contest by going 24-of-34 for 283 yards and two touchdowns through the air.
Meanwhile, it was the James Cook show in the second half, as he punched the ball into the end zone for two touchdowns to cap off the scoring for Buffalo. He finished the game with 111 rushing yards on 17 carries and his two scores.
Heading into Week 9, the Bills will play their second game of the season against the Miami Dolphins. Earlier this season, Buffalo dominated its divisional opponent in the second week of the year with a 31-10 win in South Florida.
As for the Dolphins, they were able to get quarterback Tua Tagovailoa back in the lineup for the first time after suffering a concussion against the Bills six weeks prior.
Despite his return under center, Miami was unable to hold off a late push from the Arizona Cardinals in a 28-27 loss at Hard Rock Stadium. The Cardinals sealed their victory with a late game-winning field goal from kicker Chad Ryland for a second-straight week.
As the Bills keep winning, the rest of the AFC East behind them continue to slip further behind in the rear view mirror. With Miami slipping to 2-5 in the standings, both the New England Patriots and New York Jets are also fading at 2-6 in the division.
Over the course of "Howard Picks the Bills" in 2024, Howard Simon has had this Week 9 matchup with the Dolphins locked in as a win for the Bills. That mindset isn't changing one bit, as Howard is picking the Bills to sweep the season series with Miami once again.
As for the rest of the season, Howard has the Bills winning the following two games before the bye week over the Indianapolis Colts, as well as the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs.
After the bye, Howard only sees Buffalo losing two more times to the San Francisco 49ers and the Detroit Lions, finishing the 2024 campaign with a 13-4 record and a comfortable AFC East title for a fifth-straight year.
