Buffalo, N.Y. (WGR Sports Radio 550) - From sunny Jacksonville to freezing Denver, as the Buffalo Bills prepare for their AFC Divisional Round matchup this Saturday afternoon against the Denver Broncos at Empower Field at Mile High.
As the Bills won their first playoff road win since 1992, the Bills will continue their playoff push in Denver against the 1-seed Broncos. The Broncos finished their 2025 season as the AFC West champions.
After being 2-2 in the first four weeks of the season, the Broncos were able to win scrappy games and went 12-1 with an eleven-game winning streak and finished the season with a 14-3 record.
The key to the Broncos season has been comeback and one score wins. The Broncos set a NFL record of having a nine-game winning streak in which they trailed at some point during the game. They also have an 11-2 record in one score games. All credit goes to Broncos head coach Sean Payton for their success this season.
"He is one of the best offensive minds out there. We've had our fair share of pairings and this is not any different. He is a great coach and we will have our hands full with his team," said Bills head coach Sean McDermott on Thursday during his weekly appearance on the "Extra Point Show" on WGR.
McDermott also understands that the Broncos defense has been on fire this year, leading the league in sacks and having one of the best cornerbacks in the league in Patrick Surtain.
"We have to do a good as job as possible at managing what they do up front and what they do with their front combined with one of the top corners in the league, so it a really good defense," McDermott said with Sal Capaccio. "They play at a level where you have to make sure all of your assignments are in check."
On the injury front, only two players have been ruled out for Saturday's game:
Safety Jordan Poyer and cornerback Maxwell Hairston. Ty Johnson will be given a chance in practice to play. There are no updates on any moves of the players on injured reserve.
