McDermott on backup offensive tackles: 'What they lack in experience they'll make up with grit'

Bills head coach Sean McDermott joined the "Extra Point Show" ahead his team's matchup with the Steelers on Sunday

Buffalo, N.Y. (WGR Sports Radio 550) - Following a failed comeback attempt in a loss to the Houston Texans last week on "Thursday Night Football", the Buffalo Bills look to rebound and return to the win column this Sunday with another road matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers at Acrisure Stadium.

After quarterback Josh Allen was sacked a career-high eight times against the Texans, Bills head coach Sean McDermott knows the importance of making sure the reigning NFL MVP stays healthy and protected the rest of the year.

"That's where a lot of game plans have to start," said McDermott on Friday while appearing on the "Extra Point Show" with Sal Capaccio.

On the injury front, the Bills are set to be without many key pieces to the lineup, including both starting tackles on the offensive line.

With Dion Dawkins and Spencer Brown set to miss Sunday's action, McDermott and the Bills will be forced to turn to Tylan Grable and Ryan Van Demark to fill the void and protect Allen.

"What they lack in experience they will make up for in grit, resilience, and their preparation," McDermott said on WGR.

Kickoff on Sunday afternoon is slated at 4:25 p.m. on the official voice of the Bills - WGR Sports Radio 550.
