Orchard Park, N.Y. (WGR 550) - The Buffalo Bills' 2023 season came to a sudden end on Sunday night with a 27-24 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Divisional Round at Highmark Stadium.
Despite his team's heartbreaking season-ending loss, Bills head coach Sean McDermott remains confident in his team going forward.
"I’m confident in this team, I’m confident in Josh [Allen]," said McDermott following Sunday's loss. "We have to continue to grow, and I think you want to get to a game like this as healthy as you possibly can. That’s not the reason why we lost, however. Again, we just didn’t do enough defensively."
Sunday's game came down to the leg of Bills kicker Tyler Bass to tie the game at 27-27 with 1:47 to go in regulation. However, his kick immediately began drifting right and sailed off the mark.
Even though Buffalo's bid for a Super Bowl run came to its untimely end, McDermott expressed his gratitude to "Bills Mafia", and for them sticking through a season filled with plenty of ups-and-downs.
"I’m grateful for the fan support this year, for the fans tonight," McDermott said. "Obviously not the result we wanted to give everyone, but very grateful for their support all season long."
