Orchard Park, N.Y. (WGR 550) - Buffalo Bills head coach Sean McDermott was apologetic on Thursday when discussing some comments he made a couple years back that have came under some scrutiny.
According to multiple people who shared information with football writer Tyler Dunne from GoLongTD.com, during a team meeting in 2019, McDermott credited the terrorists of the Sept. 11 attacks for being organized and having effective tactics.
McDermott owned up to making comments along those lines, and expressed his remorse with the media.
"My intent in the meeting that day was to discus the importance of communication and being on the same page with a team. I regretted mentioning 9/11 in my message that day, and I immediately apologized to the team," McDermott said on Thursday. "Not only was 9/11 a horrific event in our countries history, but a day I lost a good family friend."
