Orchard Park, N.Y. (WGR 550) - The Buffalo Bills clinched another crucial victory on Sunday with a 27-21 win over the New England Patriots at Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park.
After winning four games wins in-a-row, the Bills sit with a 10-6 record in the AFC standings with only one game remaining in the regular season. If the Bills win their last game against the Miami Dolphins next Sunday night, they will secure their fourth-straight AFC East championship and the No. 2 seed in the conference.
Bills head coach Sean McDermott was extremely satisfied with his team’s performance on Sunday, and believes their hard work and dedication got them to where they are now. Even though Sunday was not an easy win for the Bills, McDermott has a lot of respect for Patriots head coach Bill Belichick.
"They’ve controlled this division for a long time, and he’s won ‘X’ amount of Super Bowls. [I have] a ton of respect for coach, in that regard, and his guys fought today. That was a tough game," said McDermott during his postgame press conference on Sunday.
"We knew it was going to be a tough game, and it was a cordial, professional handshake, and an exchange of words and respect," McDermott added of his postgame comments with Belichick.
Bills quarterback Josh Allen did not have one of his better games in the air on Sunday, but was able to run the ball 11 times for a total of 44 yards and two touchdowns.
Although McDermott was happy to see Allen making plays, he is concerned about the lack of plays given to wide receiver Stefon Diggs.
"'Stef' continues to work. He’s going to be fine, but we have things that we need to work on overall as a team, and that’s one of them," McDermott said. "You can’t let your No. 1 receiver go like he has in the last few games, but obviously we’ve got some work to do."
