Buffalo, N.Y. (WGR Sports Radio 550) - Ahead of the NFL's deadline for all 32 teams to trim their rosters to 53 players on Tuesday, the Buffalo Bills acquired some help in the return game thanks to a rare intradivisional trade.
Originally reported by NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero and confirmed by others, the Bills have acquired defensive back and kick returner Brandon Codrington from the New York Jets. In addition, the Bills and Jets will swap late-round picks in the 2026 NFL Draft.
Codrington was an undrafted free agent pick up for the Jets this offseason out of North Carolina Central, where he spent all four of his years of his collegiate career. The 23-year-old was an accomplished return specialist, as he achieved All-MEAC Third-Team honors as a Freshman and Junior, and was a First-Team member as a Sophomore.
Codrington saw return action in both punts and kickoffs in all three of the Jets' preseason games, including being the only punt returner in a Week 3 matchup against the New York Giants.
