Report: Bills, Poyer re-work contract for 2022 season

Jordan Poyer has been looking to get a long-term extension done with the Bills

Orchard Park, N.Y. (WGR 550) - While it may not be the contract extension he's been looking for, it appears safety Jordan Poyer is going to earn some extra incentives with a re-worked contract for the 2022 season.

According to ESPN NFL insider Field Yates, the Buffalo Bills have worked with their First-Team All-Pro safety to adjust his contract for the 2022 season that increases the amount of money he can earn via incentives. Poyer's agent Drew Rosenhaus confirmed with Yates that Poyer will go from earning $500,000 to $2 million of incentives this year.

"Jordan appreciates this good gesture by the Bills, as we continue to work for a contract extension," Rosenhaus told Yates.

The 31-year-old earned his first All-Pro honors last season at the safety position, as he finished the 2021 campaign with 93 tackles, eight tackles for loss, three quarterback hits, nine passes defended, two forced fumbles and five interceptions and three sacks.

Over parts of six seasons with the Bills, Poyer has amassed 521 total tackles, 29 tackles for loss, 37 passes defended, six forced fumbles, 19 interceptions and 10 sacks.

Poyer continued his success on Thursday night in Los Angeles, as he registered two tackles and an interception in Buffalo's 31-10 win over the Rams at SoFi Stadium.
