Report: Bills-Titans Week 5 matchup could be in jeopardy

If more Titans players and personnel test positive for COVID-19 over the weekend, it may force the NFL to make a decision

Two more Tennessee Titans players tested positive for COVID-19 on Friday, bringing the team total up to 13 members of the organization - seven players and six personnel.

The National Football League announced on Thursday that the Titans' Week 4 matchup with the Pittsburgh Steelers would not happen this week after some thought that the game could be moved to Monday night or Tuesday night. No official announcement has been made from the league as to when that game will be made up.

Now there is some thought that if more players and personnel test positive for the coronavirus over the weekend in Tennessee, next week's game between the Titans and Buffalo Bills may not happen.

ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter reported on Friday shortly after the news broke out of Tennessee that if there continues to be positive COVID-19 cases out of the Titans organization throughout the weekend, the Bills-Titans Week 5 matchup would be in jeopardy.

If the NFL is forced to postpone another game next week due to COVID-19, that could make things very difficult for rescheduling purposes.

The league has already rescheduled the Titans' game with the Steelers to Week 7 of the season, which was originally scheduled to be Tennessee's bye week. Pittsburgh's Week 7 matchup with the Baltimore Ravens has now been pushed back a week to fit into the Steelers' originally scheduled bye week.

As for the Bills, their originally scheduled bye week does not come until Week 11.

The NFL and NFL Players' Association came to an agreement on Friday that daily COVID-19 testing will be extended for all 32 teams, and that players and coaches will not be allowed to leave their home city during their bye week, whenever that falls on the team's schedule.
