Orchard Park, N.Y. (WGR 550) - As part of a series of moves on Wednesday, the Buffalo Bills have locked up guard David Edwards on a two-year contract. The move was first reported by Aaron Wilson from KPRC-TV in Houston.
Wilson reports Edwards' new contract with the Bills is worth $6 million that includes $2.95 million of guaranteed money.
Edwards joined the Bills this past offseason on a one-year deal, and was mainly utilized as a depth piece on the offensive line. The 26-year-old dressed for all 17 games in 2023, and played 13% of the team's offensive snaps, mostly as an extra lineman/eligible receiver.
However, with the release of veteran center Mitch Morse on Wednesday, it is being reported the Bills will be moving Connor McGovern from left guard to center, opening up the opportunity for Edwards to step in on the starting front-five of the offensive line.
Before coming to Buffalo, Edwards spent four seasons with the Los Angeles Rams, where he played 95% of the offensive snaps on their offensive line between 2020 and 2022. He also won a Super Bowl with the Rams during the 2021 season.
In addition, the Bills announced the signing of former punter Matt Haack to a one-year deal on Wednesday.
Haack spent one season with the Bills as their full-time punter in 2021, where he averaged 42.9 yards per-punt. This after spending the first four years of his NFL career with the Miami Dolphins.
After spending all of 2022 with the Indianapolis Colts, Haack jumped around between the Arizona Cardinals, Cleveland Browns, and even a brief stop in Buffalo again ahead of the Bills' AFC Divisional Round matchup with the Kansas City Chiefs.
