Pittsford, N.Y (WGR 550) - With the NFL looking to make kickoffs safer new rules have been put in place where a fair catch inside the 25-yeard-line results in a touchback. Buffalo Bills special teams coordniator Matthew Smiley does not have a problem with the new rule coming into the NFL.

"As a military guy, I got real good at 'tell me what the rules are and I'll live by the rules' so the league has put this rule in place and very good intent behind the rule, so it's my job to figure out what's the best way to follow the rule to the benefit of the Buffalo Bills." Smiley said.

Smiley knows that the league is evolving and feels that the NFL wants to put the best product on the field.

Right before the start of training camp, the Bills lost veteran running back Nyheim Hines for the season. With the loss Smiley is excited to work with newly acquired wide receiver Deonte Harty who has had experience returning punts and kicks with New Orleans.

"Deonte (Harty) had a lot of success in New Orleans, punt return especially early in his career so it's exciting being able to work with him." Smiley said.
