Terrel Bernard, Taron Johnson ruled out against Jaguars

Dawuane Smoot and Javon Solomon both returned to practice on Wednesday

Orchard Park, N.Y. (WGR Sports Radio 550) - Buffalo Bills head coach Sean McDermott has already ruled linebacker Terrel Bernard and cornerback Taron Johnson out for this coming Monday night's contest against the Jacksonville Jaguars at Highmark Stadium.

Johnson missed last Thursday night's win over the Miami Dolphins with a forearm injury, while Bernard injured his pectoral muscle during the game.

McDermott did not give a timeline on either player's return, but the team did not place Johnson on Injured Reserve last week. That may be an encouraging sign the Bills are optimistic he will miss less than the required four games for a stint on IR.

There's been no indication yet if the team will or will not place Bernard on Injured Reserve.

While both of those players have already been ruled out, two other defenders returned to the field on Wednesday as the team worked just outside the ADPRO Sports Training Center.

Defensive ends Dawuane Smoot (toe) and Javon Solomon (oblique) had yet to practice and missed the first two games of the season. Both of them, along with fellow defensive end Casey Toohill who injured his knee in Miami, were all back on the practice field.

Quarterback Josh Allen was still wearing a white glove on his left hand during the session. Allen wore the glove for the entirety of Buffalo's 31-10 win over the Dolphins six days ago.
