Buffalo, N.Y. (WGR Sports Radio 550) - After kicking a career-long 61-yard field goal to give the Buffalo Bills a last-second 30-27 win over the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, kicker Tyler Bass was named the AFC Special Teams Player of the Week in Week 9.
Perhaps the biggest kick of Bass' career helped the Bills improve to 7-2 on the season, while also helping the Bills remain four games ahead of the New York Jets in the AFC East standings.
Bass' kick also set a new franchise record, breaking Steve Christie's franchise mark of 59 yards set in 1993.
The veteran kicker is now 9-for-9 on field goal attempts in the final minute of the fourth quarter or overtime. He also became the ninth kicker in NFL history to kick a field goal of 60-or-more yards in the final two minutes or in overtime.
Bass has been fighting through struggles kicking the football over the course of the 2024 season. Earlier in Sunday's win, the 27-year-old missed an extra point attempt, and then had another attempt go off the upright and through.
While Bass has won AFC Special Teams Player of the Month three times, this is the first time in his career he has been named AFC Special Teams Player of the Week.
