Orchard Park, N.Y. (WGR 550) - After spending the first four games of the 2023 season on the Reserve/Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list, Buffalo Bills pass rusher Von Miller appears ready to return to the practice field with his teammates.
During his weekly Zoom call with the Buffalo media on Monday, Bills head coach Sean McDermott says Miller will practice later this week in his first week of eligibility to come off the PUP list. However, McDermott would not say anything more than they would take Miller's progress "one day at a time."
The 34-year-old was placed on the PUP list to begin the season as he was still recovering from surgery to repair a torn ACL in his right knee suffered during Buffalo's Thanksgiving matchup with the Detroit Lions last season at Ford Field.
After signing with the Bills in free agency in the spring of 2022, the grizzled veteran managed to register 21 total tackles, 10 tackles for loss, 12 quarterback hits, eight sacks and a forced fumble in just 11 games last year.
The Bills will have 21 days from his first official practice with the team to place Miller on the active 53-man roster. If after the 21 days he does not return to the active roster, Miller would then be placed on Injured Reserve, making him miss, at least, another four games.
However, if Miller is activated and is able to play this coming Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars in London, England, he will re-join a Buffalo defense that currently ranks sixth in yards per-game, second in points per-game, fourth in pass defense, first in takeaways (11) and tied for first in sacks (16).
Kickoff Sunday between the Bills and Jaguars at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is set for 9:30 a.m. ET.
