Sunday's 2021 season opener for the Buffalo Bills was an electric atmosphere leading up to the game. Traffic heading into the stadium was as packed as it's ever been, while fans already in Orchard Park were up early tailgating and entering Highmark Stadium for the first time in over a year.
Unfortunately for the Bills, their home opener was spoiled at the hands of the Pittsburgh Steelers in a 23-16 loss.
Former Bills center, and current color analyst on the Bills Radio Network, Eric Wood says in a game like Sunday's opener, the players may have been too hyped up for the game.
"There was no way to be in that stadium and not feed off the energy of that crowd. It was one of the loudest [crowds] I've ever heard in that stadium," Wood said during "Schopp and the Bulldog" as part of his weekly "Buffalo Bills Football Monday" segment.
"You manage emotion kind of the other way... A game like yesterday, you're almost trying to calm yourself down. I don't know if that played any effect into Josh Allen's missed throws."
