The same team that hung a banner for being an "AFC Finalist" is back with more weird behavior.
The Indianapolis Colts are in the hunt for a new head coach after firing Frank Reich during the season. They haven’t landed on anyone (though it’s looking like they might double down on the inexplicable decision to tab Jeff Saturday for the role), but Reich managed to land on his feet.
Reich joined the Carolina Panthers on Thursday. Make no mistake, he mishandled some things in Indianapolis, but was among a laundry list of problems, and he wasn't atop that list, either.
In other words, he was something of a scapegoat. But when the Panthers announced their agreement with Reich, the Colts official account – in an unprecedented move – commented on it.
Yeah, don’t see that every day. The weirdness of the situation was not lost on those who saw the tweet.
Maybe they were just trying to be polite. But you’d think whoever posted it would have the wherewithal to realize the optics of publicly congratulating the guy you kicked to the curb a few months earlier are, in a word, terrible.
This is the second time this week that an NFL team account has fired off a bizarre tweet, too. The Cowboys account castigated Dak Prescott late Sunday night for "giving the ball away twice" in their playoff loss to the 49ers.
