The Golden State Warriors find themselves down in an early 0-1 hole to the Sacramento Kings after a 126-123 Game 1 loss on Saturday night, which ended after Steph Curry missed a 3-pointer at the buzzer which would have sent the game into overtime.

Draymond Green, as he did last year, taped a podcast following the game and felt that that the fact the Warriors had a chance to send it to overtime not playing their best basketball is something to build off of going forward.

But make no mistake, Green is not one to take away any sort of “moral victory.”

“If I’m being quite honest, to have Steph with a shot to tie the game and send it into overtime — I didn’t think we played great,” Green said. “I thought we played pretty good. I think there’s a lot of things we can do better. Just with that, you gotta feel decent about the game and where we can go.

“Obviously, we don’t do moral victories. So I’m not going to sit here and say ‘we feel good about that.’ F—k no. We lost the game. We’re down 0-1and you gotta figure out a way to go get Game 2. This is the playoffs. You gotta win one on the road.”

The Warriors did not seem to have an answer for Kings guard De’Aaron Fox, who dropped 38 points in his playoff debut.

Green said the team has to do better containing Fox, but seemed to take bigger issue with giving up 32 points to Malik Monk off the bench.

“De’Aaron Fox making 38 points, he’s obviously capable — more than capable — of getting 38 points, but you can’t give up 32 to. Malik Monk off the bench,” Green said. “Mali’s an incredible player…he shot 14 free throws and was 14-of-14 from the line. … But he had a big game. Trey Lyles also had 17 points off the bench. There it is right there. You give up 49 points off the bench it’s hard to overcome that.”

The Warriors return to action against the Kings on Monday night, where Green is confident that things will be different.

“If we can go back [home] 1-1 that would be huge,” Green said. “And I have no doubt in my mind we’ll make adjustments and we’ll do that.”
