Jerry Jones made an appearance on 'The Shan and RJ Show' Tuesday to discuss a number of topics including an update on Mike McCarthy, Randy Gregory and DeMarcus 'Tank' Lawrence. However, his comments on Ezekiel Elliot's role ahead of Thursday Night's matchup against the Saints created a lot of buzz on social media.

The Cowboys owner said that despite Elliot's clear decline as a feature NFL back this season, he made it clear that Elliot will be getting a 'serious workload' in New Orleans.

“The facts are we’re expecting him to have a serious load against New Orleans,” Jones said of Elliott.

This didn't sit well with Cowboys fans, as many questioned why Jones would make such an assertion considering that Elliot has been battling through a knee injury for the past few weeks, while his backup Tony Pollard has emerged as the go-to option for the ground game for weeks.

Elliott said he wants to be a full participant in practice this week rather than resting his knee and was a full participant in practice on Monday.

Cowboys fans may have a valid point as Pollard has the most rushing yards from a non-starting running back and is 4th in the NFL in YPC.

Now for some good news, Amari Cooper is expected to suit up Thursday night for their game against the Saints after missing the past two games on the COVID-19 reserve list. This is great news for Dak and the Dallas offense as they are looking to break a three-game losing streak following an embarrassing defeat to the Raiders in overtime.

Another negative for Dallas is they will be without their head coach Mike McCarthy on the sidelines after he tested positive for COVID. The coach that will be calling the shots in McCarthy's absence will be Cowboys' defensive coordinator and former Atlanta Falcons head coach Dan Quinn. Quinn, who was in Atlanta for six years has a 2-4 record against his former NFC South rival in games played at the Superdome.
