Pittsburgh (93.7 The Fan) - Former Pitt guard Trey McGowens is considering eight schools as transfer possibilities. McGowens released his list on Twitter Monday. No ACC schools are under consideration, but four SEC schools (Alabama, Auburn, Arkansas, Ole Miss) made the cut. The four others are Jamie Dixon's TCU Horned Frogs, Xavier, Nebraska and Seton Hall.

March 30, 2020 McGowens, who was Jeff Capel's first recruit and a two-year starter, entered the transfer portal March 18. On Monday, Capel spoke publicly on the subject for the first time, telling The PM Team it wasn't only the player's decision.
"He and his family decided they wanted something else," Capel said. "They wanted an opportunity, at least from everything that I read, from what his dad said, from what Trey said, they wanted chance to play the point guard spot exclusively. I guess they thought that wasn't going to happen here with Xavier."
Fellow sophomore Xavier Johnson announced two days before McGowens entered the transfer portal that he would return next season.
