The Warriors weren’t exactly in tip-top shape by the time they got back to the Bay Area Friday evening around 7 p.m.
Dub Nation welcomed the squad back after it captured the fourth title in the past eight years to keep the dynasty rolling. The Warriors had one last six-hour flight from Boston together as a group, in what had to have been a memorable ride. Clearly, it was cause for celebration.
Bob Myers discusses title and Dubs postgame party
Warriors coach Steve Kerr looked a little rough on the tarmac and admitted to reporters, “Not gonna lie, I’m a little hungover right now.”
“We had a great night last night,” Kerr said. “We had an incredible night. A late night. Just a special one. Celebrating with the teams, families. Just a beautiful night.”
That 3-minute interview must have seemed like eternity. Kerr is a true pro. He’s not a nine-time champ for nothing.
Check out some more sights and sounds from the flight and the welcome:
With everything the Warriors went through the past three seasons, you can’t blame Kerr and the Dubs for wanting to blow off some steam. It sounds like it’s been a non-stop party since the final buzzer Thursday night.
Warriors president/general manager Bob Myers also sounded a little haggard when he was talking with 95.7 The Game’s “The Morning Roast” Friday and talked about the postgame celebration.
“I don’t remember how to go out to a club,” Myers said. “I’m too old. It’s loud. It wasn’t for me.”
Myers also shared what Kerr told him Thursday afternoon.
“I asked him, ‘What are you gonna do if we win?’” Myers said. “He said, ‘I’m gonna get really drunk.' And I think he did.”
Well, looks like Kerr was telling the truth. The team will get to recover for two days and rally for the parade on Monday, which should be totally manageable for these vets.
