(670 The Sore) This came as no shock.
White Sox first baseman Jose Abreu has been named the American League Player of the Week after a monstrous showing in his last seven games.
Abreu hit .533 (16-of-30) with seven homers, 15 RBIs, nine runs and a 1.333 slugging percentage last week, when he helped the White Sox go 6-1. Abreu was at his best against the Cubs, homering six times in three games over the weekend as the White Sox won twice.
It's Abreu's fifth career weekly honor.
