Isaiah Thomas is finally getting the chance he's been waiting for.
According to multiple reports, the former Celtics guard is planning to sign a 10-day contract with the New Orleans Pelicans.
Thomas hasn't played in the NBA since last February, when he was released from the Clippers after being traded by the Wizards.
That marked a low point following a rough few years that saw Thomas never fully recover from the hip injury he suffered with the Celtics late in the 2016-17 season, a season in which he averaged 28.9 points per game and finished fifth in NBA MVP voting.
Thomas finally underwent major surgery on his hip in May, something he told Sports Illustrated he regrets not doing sooner.
He returned to game action for the first time in February, playing a pair of games for Team USA in AmeriCup qualifying in Puerto Rico. In wins over The Bahamas and Mexico, Thomas led the team with 14 points per game, including knocking down six of his 12 three-point attempts.
Obviously there's nothing guaranteed with a 10-day contract, but it's great just to see Thomas getting another chance.
