'Indinia' Hoosiers roasted on social media for jersey spelling error

Not much went right for the Hoosiers on Saturday.

They punted eight times. They had only two scoring drives — both field goals. They had three drives end in a turnover, two of which were interceptions that the Hawkeyes returned for touchdowns. The defense didn't play that, that poorly, though it didn't look all that great approximately 75 seconds into the game when Tyler Goodson started the scoring for Iowa.

The final score was 34-6. It's not the way you want to start out the season if you're a player, coach or fan of Hoosier football.

But perhaps the most embarrassing part of it all was the fact that they couldn't even spell their school — the state they live in — correctly on their jerseys.

Maybe that's why they played so badly. It wasn't the Indiana Hoosiers football team. It was some last-minute replacement school called "Indinia." All kidding aside, that's pretty humiliating, though it's not like we haven't seen errors on team uniforms elsewhere in the world of sports, even at the highest levels.

That didn't stop the college football community on Twitter from piling it on, making the bad loss to Iowa even worse.

But hey, if you're an optimist, maybe this isn't such a bad thing after all! Just take it from Kassie Epstein, who had a pretty good idea on what the program should do after the unfortunate mishap.

Not saying I'd buy an "Indinia" jersey... but I wouldn't be against it, and I'll be checking to see if they turn their blunder into a nice little sales opportunity.
