Bandits acquire Resetarits, Hendrycks ahead of NLL Trade Deadline

Buffalo loads up in hopes of kickstarting another deep postseason run

Buffalo, N.Y. (WGR Sports Radio 550) - In a year of unfamiliar territory for the Buffalo Bandits - sitting at 6-6 and seventh overall in the National Lacrosse League standings - general manager Steve Dietrich made it known to his players after last weekend's back-to-back wins that the team was set to buy ahead of this year's Trade Deadline.

Just before Monday afternoon's NLL Trade Deadline, the Bandits made a pair of trades to add to their roster, acquiring defenseman Tyler Hendrycks from the Calgary Roughnecks, as well as forward Joe Resetarits from the Philadelphia Wings.

It is evident that Paul Dawson and Steve Priolo are not getting any younger on the Buffalo back end, and may be a little long in the tooth, as far as their professional lacrosse careers are concerned.

Hendrycks has played only four games this season with Calgary, recording two blocked shots and four loose balls scooped with his 6-foot-3, 213-pound frame.

He has tallied five goals and seven assists over the course of his young NLL career.

Meanwhile, Buffalo has lacked an identity on offense this season. In five out of their 12 games this season, the Bandits have tallied less than 10 goals, which has resulted in a loss in each of those contests.

If there is any potential good news, the Bandits have scored a combined 25 goals over their last two games.

Resetarits, a Hamburg native, is set to play his second tenure with the Bandits, spending parts of two seasons in Buffalo from 2013-15. In 27 games with the Bandits, Resetarits combined for 32 goals and 31 assists for 63 points.

The 36-year-old currently holds the record for the most points tallied as an American-born player in NLL history. He's on pace for a Hall of Fame career in the NLL, tallying 367 goals and 550 assists for 917 points in 211 career games.

With these two key deadline moves, Dietrich isn't just looking to set history in the NLL - being the first team to possibly four-peat - but to keep the Bandits dynasty window open for years to come.
