Las Vegas, Nev. (610 Sports Radio/WGR 550) - If Travis Kelce and Andy Reid are contemplating retirement, then it’s news to Brett Veach.
Neither the Kansas City Chiefs tight end nor head coach have given any indication they’re considering calling it a career after Sunday’s Super Bowl in Las Vegas. Yet, there’s been consistent speculation that one or both of them could hang it up after this season – especially if they beat the San Francisco 49ers at Allegiant Stadium.
A win Sunday would represent the third title for both Reid and Kelce. Reid will be 66 in March, and Kelce is 34. Both are beginning to enter the territory where riding off into the sunset theoretically could be on their mind.
However, the Chiefs general manager says he’s been given no indication any of that’s being considered.
"That is not something that I’ve heard directly," said Veach on Wednesday in an exclusive interview on "Fescoe in the Morning" on 610 Sports Radio. "I don’t buy one bit of that, for what it’s worth. Maybe I don’t know anything, but I would be shocked more than anybody – and I talk to coach every day."
Never say never, but if it would stun the general manager of the team, that says something.
