A stress-free football Sunday (almost)

It was nice to sit back and watch a full day of NFL games until Kansas City had to ruin my day

Buffalo, N.Y. (WGR Sports Radio 550) - It was a glorious, stress-free Sunday of watching NFL games. At least it was until the late stages of the Cincinnati-Kansas City game.

Here are some thoughts, based on what I saw, while spending a good chunk of the day watching the NFL Red Zone channel:

The Chiefs...

Side note: I actually switched from the Red Zone to CBS for the Bengals-Chiefs game.

I am so tired of the freaking Chiefs. I was enjoying my day of watching football and not hurling curse words towards the television until that game, specifically the end of that game.

My wife and I were watching the game together, and she kept talking about how Cincinnati was going to win. I had to keep telling her until there were zeroes on the clock, the Chiefs were never out of it because they had Patrick Mahomes.

Even when Kansas City was one play from defeat, and that one play was a 4th-and-16 from their own 35-yard line, I knew better than to declare the Chiefs dead.

Of course a Mahomes incomplete pass that would have ended the game was followed by a penalty flag, and an outcome-changing pass interference penalty against the Bengals.

The spot foul put the Chiefs in field goal range for Harrison Butker, and of course, he kicked it right through the uprights for the victory.

The Chiefs have become the Tom Brady-led New England Patriots. NFL fans are sick and tired of seeing them win. They seem to get every break in the book that helps them come from behind and win games you were convinced they were going to lose.

This season is all about anybody but Kansas City. I don't want them to ruin another Super Bowl Sunday by playing in the game. That's what Brady and the Patriots used to do.

Following the division rivals

As far as the AFC East went on Sunday, there were mixed results.

The Jets beat the Titans in Tennessee, but Aaron Rodgers and the New York offense didn't look that good. He threw for just 176 yards, but did have a pair of touchdowns.

Running back Breece Hall is still a handful though, both rushing the ball and as a receiving threat.

New England lost in overtime at home to the Seattle Seahawks, so the Bills are atop the division with their 2-0 start. The rest of the division is all tied at 1-1.

A look at the rest

After two weeks, the rest of the AFC will show the Bills are one of five teams that won their first two games along with the Chiefs, the Jim Harbaugh-led Los Angeles Chargers, Houston Texans and Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Bills' next opponent, the Jacksonville Jaguars, aren't good.

The Jaguars struggled at home against the Cleveland Browns, and their offense has yet to get going in this early portion of the schedule. Jacksonville has scored just 30 points, while dropping games to Miami and the Browns.

Trevor Lawrence has lost his last seven regular season games.

You might be wondering how former Bills wideout Gabe Davis is doing. He has 10 targets, six catches and 105 yards so far.

Quick hits:

The Carolina Panthers' offense with second-year quarterback Bryce Young is... WOOF!

They have scored one touchdown in the first two games, and Young looks totally lost out there. He threw only six passes at, or beyond the line of scrimmage against the Chargers, and completed just one of those throws for seven yards.

Carolina looks well on the way to the top pick again, having been outscored 73-13 in an 0-2 start.

----------

I'm begging the Pittsburgh media to not try and tell us the 2-0 AFC North leading Steelers are legit, and Justin Fields is the answer at quarterback. Their offense has produced one touchdown so far.

Pittsburgh has won because of defense and special teams, as usual.

----------

Poor Brian Daboll. He won't be able to win with Daniel Jones at quarterback.

I did enjoy seeing Devin Singletary while catching some of the Giants game against Washington. Singletary looked good, as he totaled 95 yards and a touchdown (although he did lose a fumble) while the Giants fell to 0-2.

----------

Every time I see Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell on the sideline, I can't help but think of him as a waiter keeping his mouth hidden in those Applebee's commercials.

----------

Is the New Orleans Saints offense really that good?

Derek Carr and company blew the Dallas Cowboys right out of "Jerry World" on Sunday by putting 35 first half points up on that humongous scoreboard.

New Orleans has scored 91 points in a 2-0 start.

----------

Maybe Jim Harbaugh is working his magic once again.

The younger of the Harbaugh brothers once led the San Francisco 49ers to a Super Bowl berth, and eventually guided the University of Michigan Wolverines to a national title.

Now he has the Chargers not "Chargering", at least not yet. Los Angeles is off to its first 2-0 start in 12 years.

In two weeks, they play the Chiefs.

----------

An impressive win for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Detroit, and great work by the defense holding that explosive Lions offense to just 16 points.

----------

The wow result of the day was in Baltimore, where the Ravens lost to the Las Vegas Raiders.

I kept waiting for the Ravens to pull away and cruise to a victory, but the Raiders pulled off an impressive come-from-behind win with quarterback Gardner Minshew making plays. Davante Adams looked like himself again, and rookie tight end Brock Bowers - their first-round pick this past April - is a terrific weapon.

Baltimore is 0-2 for the first time in nine years. They next play in Dallas against the Cowboys before hosting the Bills in Week 4.

By the way, three of the next five opponents for the Bills are currently winless (Jacksonville, Baltimore, Tennessee).
