Buffalo, N.Y. (WGR 550) - After having to wait a few extra days, Howard Simon finally got his moment in the spotlight on Friday night at Sahlen Field in Downtown Buffalo.

Listen to WGR now!

After the first game of a Friday night doubleheader for the Buffalo Bisons, the former longtime WGR morning show host got the chance to toss out the ceremonial first pitch.

The left-hander's pitch was just a touch high in the zone, but it'll go down as a strike in the books! At least his ceremonial first pitch went much better than Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, who tossed the first pitch during Friday's Cleveland Guardians game.

After more than 18 years working at WGR Sports Radio 550, plus his nearly 34 years in the Buffalo broadcasting business, Simon stepped away from his role at WGR back in early March. While he says he hasn't retired - saying he's just not full-time hosting anymore - you will still be able to hear Simon during the upcoming 2023 football season, as he will return to pick the Buffalo Bills once again.

In the meantime, Simon is helping out the Bisons during the 2023 baseball season working - ironically - as a field timing coordinator by running the pitch clock.
