The Penguins have announced that Evgeni Malkin has had surgery on his left elbow.
The team’s general manager Jim Rutherford made the announcement Monday morning.
Malkin underwent the successful surgery at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital.
The expected recovery time for his injury is three to four weeks, giving him plenty of time to heal before training camp.
93.7 The Fan’s Colin Dunlap said on the morning show Monday that he had heard Malkin had been dealing with an injury during the Penguins qualifying round against the Montreal Candiens and that surgery was likely in his future.
